Strait is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life

“Enter through the narrow gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat;
Because strait is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and few there be that find it “.  Matthew 7: 13

God is so wonderful that He has given us free will, it means, a free decision, God is so good that He would not force us to do his will, but it gives us the gift to decide whether to do it or not, of course that every decision we make it, will result in either a positive or negative result.

In our lives we will find two paths leading to two very different doors, of which I want to reflect.

The road spacious and wide gate that leads to destruction: What to do to go to hell?; absolutely nothing, for  the heritage of sin is in your life, so if you live your life like most people do, satisfying the desires of the flesh, then do not worry; for you have an all paid trip to hell.

The spacious road is the world and their pleasures, Why spacious?, for there is a lot to mess with, the world is full of deceitful lusts that lead to sin, that is disobedience to God. There is  huge range of spacious sins in this way, wherever you look, you will see sin, wherever you go you will find flesh pleasures, this path is the most used, supposedly is the most ‘fun “but with every meal comes the bill”, so this spacious way will collect the bill and it will cost your life, and you will lose it because of your fleshy desires.

This road is finally a very, very wide door, a door so wide you do not need any effort into it, this door is the door of doom or the door of eternal death, apparently not, because its path is easy and “fun” you wont find stumbles in it, nor trials will come into your life, but it will served on a golden platter that guaranties you entering through the door of doom.

The narrow road and the narrow gate, this road is not easy, because the very fact of being narrow is a sign that you will need to strive to walk in, and even  more if you want to come in through the narrow gate, the beauty of this road is that you will not be alone, but you will have a helper, someone who will be with you for better or worst, in abundance and scarcity, in few words, will always be with you.

This narrow road is not very popular, for it requires a holiness and put aside the desires of the flesh and it is not according  with the currents of this world. Most people would flee this way, because it is not to satisfy the fleshy nature within us, but rather to keep it tied.

This path is the path that our Lord Jesus Christ, he came to show us a path where it will be necessary that we stumble in this path, but that of all paths the Lord will surely deliver us, the most beautiful part of this road is the end, since the gate by we’ll have to pass, despite being narrow it is the entrance to inherit eternal life.

When I meditate on these two roads, I realize that the easiest to follow is the width, but, realizing its end, I prefer to choose the narrow road, with my choice  there will be times where I will think “I cant go further”, but it is nice to know that in those moments of weakness, the Lord will be there to renew me and give me new strength to continue. Many people may mock about my choice, but I rather paying full price for my trip so one day I could inherit eternal life.

My friend, which road are you taking?, Which end do you want?, You can not walk on the wide road and going into the narrow gate , each path is traced to a single end and they will not cross , the long narrow road will take you to the narrow gate and the spacious road will take you to the wide gate, it will always be like that.

But my question would be:

Which end do you want for you life?

That’s why I invite you to meditate on your road, to reflect if it’s right or wrong, there is still time to return to the narrow path if you’re walking on the spacious, for you are free to decide about your future, but one thing is for sure:

The end of each road, It will never change unless you decide to choose the right path.
